Born and raised in New Mexico, Markie has always had a passion for working with animals and for helping pet owners to care for their fur babies. Markie’s education began at New Mexico State University where she majored in animal science and minored in chemistry. In 2007, Markie moved to Denver to attend Bel-Rea to become a certified veterinary technician. Markie has a strong interest in veterinary dentistry and is Fear Free certified. When Markie is not at work, she enjoys snowboarding, making snow angels, hiking, billowy interpretive dance, day drinking at Colorado’s finest breweries, and binge-watching old movies. Markie shares her home with her husband Carlos and their 4 pets: Lambchop, a toy poodle mix, Dotti (a cat who loves sunshine, catnip, and naps), Katniss (the most grateful adopted feral cat ever), and their leopard gecko.
